Trieste celebrates 30 years of CEI, bridge between Central and Eastern Europe

Trieste is celebrating 30 years of the Executive Secretariat of the Central European Initiative (CEI), an international body established to strengthen cooperation between Central and Eastern European countries.

Over these three decades, the presence of the InCE has contributed significantly to consolidating the city’s role as a crossroads of dialogue, encounter and exchange between different European realities. A commitment that has also translated into the promotion of cultural and scientific initiatives capable of fostering collaboration and comparison between the countries of the region.

This is the backdrop for the work of the Trieste Film Festival, which has been bringing the best of Central and Eastern European cinema to the city for more than 30 years, offering visibility to authors and cinematographies that are often underrepresented on international circuits.

Thanks in part to the support of InCE, it is possible to create the TSFF Academy, an educational project that involves one hundred students from leading European universities and film academies each year. The initiative offers them the opportunity to actively participate in the festival, taking dedicated master classes with industry professionals and experiencing a major international film event up close.

For the past three years, moreover, the CEI Hall in Trieste has hosted the conference sponsored by the University Cinema Council, an important moment of meeting and discussion on the world of cinema from an academic point of view. This year’s edition has taken on an international dimension, delving into the history, evolution and impact of European film festivals, from their origins to contemporary transformations.
