Stealing Land from director Žiga Virc at Cinema Ariston in Trieste after TSFF37

After its passage at the Trieste Film Festival in the Fuori dagli Sche(r)mi section, Žiga Virc’sZemljo krast – Stealing Land/Stealing Land , a sharp and surprising satire that plays on the border between innocence and conflict, is back in theaters. On Friday, May 8, 8:30 p.m. at Trieste’s Ariston cinema, director Žiga Virc will be in the theater to meet the audience. The film is part of the Review of Slovenian Cinema in Italy organized by Kinoateljie, in collaboration with La Cappella Underground and Trieste Film Festival, with the participation of Slovenski Klub. The film is part of a selection of titles passed at the last TSFF that will circuit in Italy throughout 2026 thanks to the TSFF on tour program, in collaboration with the distribution and communication agency Lo Scrittoio.

It all starts with a game between children that takes an unexpected turn: when one of them claims to be “Palestine,” a simple confrontation between parents quickly turns into a heated confrontation, exposing the frailties, prejudices and contradictions of the adult world.

Shot in just two days, the film is striking in its ability to observe the present with irony and lucidity, transforming an everyday situation into a tense and revealing tale.
