Belgrade, June 1991, last day of peace in Yugoslavia. Ratko, a Bosnian guy, can’t get a driving licence, because he is totally colour-blind. So he steals a truck for a joyride. Belgrade city girl Suzana discovers she is pregnant and decides to take off to Dubrovnik. She hitchhikes, he picks her up, they end up travelling together. Ethnic war is imminent – but the colour-blind ‘moron’ and the hot-tempered city girl cannot distinguish the differences among the opposing groups. When they get deeper into trouble, Suzana wants to go back home; Ratko, in love, wants to take her to Italy, but it’s too late, there is no way back… Srđan Koljević’s debut, in competition at the Trieste FF in 2005, the film received in 2004 the FIPRESCI Award at the Warsaw Film Festival and the Audience Award at the Mannheim Film Festival in Germany.

“A Balkan road-movie, set on the last day of ex-Yugoslavia, combines drama, comedy and romance in the form of an offbeat love story… A simple movie at a first glance. On a deeper level, colour-blindness as one of the ‘autistic’ main character’s features and his colour-blind ‘philosophy of life’ are a metaphor and a mockery of the ethnic divisions which led to war. I believe that this deeply personal film offers an unusual and ironic view of serious issues.” (S. Koljević)
