Una comunità religiosa vive isolata in un bellissimo paesaggio dell’Ucraina, dove un tempo passavano le linee del fronte sia della Prima che della Seconda guerra mondiale. È un villaggio soleggiato dove riecheggiano le risate dei bambini di famiglie numerose. Tuttavia, questa esistenza pacifica è spesso interrotta da inondazioni e dalla guerra, due eventi cruciali nella memoria del villaggio. La comunità si unisce per superare le conseguenze delle inondazioni che alterano il corso della loro vita, proprio come la guerra ridisegna il paese. Insieme a loro osserviamo le trasformazioni in atto, laddove la guerra di oggi si intreccia con quelle passate. Resta però quel senso di appartenenza che nessuno potrà mai portare via.

Dmytro Sukholytkyy-Sobchuk
Author and filmmaker, Dmytro Sukholytkyy-Sobchuk was born in 1983 in Uman, Ukraine, and graduated from the Karpenko-Karyi University of Theatre, Film and Television in Kyiv. Member of European and Ukrainian Film Academies, he is the founder of the script platform Terrarium. His first feature Pamfir premiered at Directors’ Fortnight in Cannes 2022. The Trieste FF presented in 2023 his short documentary Liturgy of Anti-Tank Obstacles. Silent Flood premiered at the latest IDFA in Amsterdam.
