JUGOBASKET

edited by Bottega Errante Edizioni in collaboration with ESTENSIONI dentro le letterature di confine
Italian only

In this book, the most representative former players of a completely unique sports movement themselves narrate their origins and careers in the first person. From Boša Tanjević, Praja Dalipagić, Žele Obradović to Toni Kukoč, Saša Danilović, and many others, a narrative unfolds that begins with the reconstruction of the country after World War II and ends with the dissolution of the political and social utopia desired by Marshal Tito. Through a fifty-year period, Yugoslav players go from being semi-professionals to becoming global sports icons, teammates and opponents of authentic legends such as Michael Jordan and Magic Johnson. The author has collected their voices in a series of exclusive narratives that collectively create an unforgettable fresco of history and sports. ALESSANDRO TOSO Born in Venice in 1970, he grew up in Treviso, where he lives. After a long experience in sports journalism, he became involved in exporting at a multinational company in the construction industry, a sector in which he still works. He is the author of three novels: Destini Verticali (Ediciclo), A Galla, (Scrittura&Scritture) and La Ragazza del Bar Centrale (Bottega Errante). Since October 2023 he has co-hosted with Massimo Iacopini Boomerball Podcast, a podcast in which he hosts legends of Italian basketball. He dialogues with Bogdan Tanjević, former player of OKK Belgrade and the Yugoslav national team. He established himself as a coach by winning trophies with clubs and national teams: from Italy (scudetto with Milan in 1996) to Turkey (2010 world silver medal), with a total of 96 games at the helm of the Italian national team.
