The 37th edition of the Trieste Film Festival is also devoting special attention to younger audiences, with a program designed to introduce children to cinema through engaging stories and creative activities.
Saturday, Jan. 17, at the Miela Theater presents Tichá pošta (A Secret Delivery) by Ján Sebechlebský, an adventure set at the end of the war, recommended for ages 10 and up, which follows a group of children grappling with a secret mission, focusing on the values of friendship and ingenuity. On the afternoon of the same day is Pohádky po Babičce (Tales of the Enchanted Garden), an animated film for all ages and a nominee for the European Film Awards 2026, which celebrates the power of imagination through the stories invented by three children.
On Sunday, Jan. 18 , the Miela Theater hosts Animated Hungarian Magics, a selection of short films made between 1975 and 2000, suitable for all ages and characterized by great inventiveness and poetry. On Monday, Jan. 19, the program specifically targets elementary school with the matinee Peter and Friends Discovering Nature, recommended for ages 6 to 10, which features restored episodes of the famous Hungarian animated series, followed by a final film forum designed to stimulate dialogue with young viewers.
Rounding out the offerings are some activities by reservation. The creative workshop A mano a mano!, curated by Gaia Mencagli and Roberta Colacino, recommended for ages 5 to 10, is scheduled for Saturday, Jan. 17 and Sunday , Jan. 18, while the urban treasure hunt Alla scoperta di Trieste, curated by Marzia Arzon, aimed at girls and boys ages 7 to 13, to learn about the city through play and collaboration, is also taking place on Sunday, Jan. 18.
