Eva Fahidi returned to Hungary at the age of 20 at the end of World War II, the only survivor of her large family from the terrible Auschwitz concentration camp. Today, past the age of 90, she joins internationally renowned dancer Emese in a performance of dance and performance theater to recount the long adventure that has been her life.A touching tale to see the Holocaust from the perspective of those who lived through it and reworked it through art, dance and the body. World Premiere at IDFA 2019, Grand Prix at the Semaine de la Critique of the Locarno Film Festival, Best Human Rights Documentary at the Sarajevo Film Festival.
After working as a dancer/performer with several choreographers/directors, RÉKA SZABÓ founded The Symptoms, one of the most important contemporary dance-theater companies in Hungary since 2002. The company deals with everyday problems that concern us all, addressing these issues with a deeply personal tone. All this is wrapped in a vision that is grotesque, self-mocking and poetic at the same time. This attitude can also be traced in his experimental dance films “Shadow Movie – cartoon with living characters” and “Mourning,” which have been screened at various festivals (e.g. Kassel Documentary Film and Video Festival, RE-SEARCH Summer Festival 2016, Tel-Aviv). He received the Best Experimental Film award at Hungarian Film Week in 2011 for “Shadow movie.”
