The Accademia della Follia, the theatre company created in the spaces of the former psychiatric hospital of Trieste by the actor and director Claudio Misculin in the early ‘70s, has travelled all over the world in numerous acclaimed shows. For over 40 years Claudio has been the master, the leader, the guide for his madmen by profession and actors by vocation … After his sudden death in 2019, the creation of the new show is the challenge that the mad-actors must face to carry on “the madness of the theatre and the theatre of madness”, to which Claudio has dedicated his entire existence.
“The editing between the voices of the witnesses and the archive materials follows the flow of memories and emotions, carrying us into the magical atmosphere of this group of madmen, always open to the irony of life, in which reason and madness are two faces of the same medal. Because humanity still needs a hundred, a thousand stages to make it clear that diversity, illness, loneliness, poetry, do not only belong to specific categories of people, but are everyone’s heritage.” (E. Rossi)
