More than 300 youngsters apply for a first ever casting call in Poland targeted to nonbinary and trans people. They are auditioning for the role of a trans boy in one of Netflix’s feature films. Their biggest dream is to become a movie superstar, but it soon turns out that much more serious challenges await them. In a mosaic film form, we accompany them in their daily struggle. We Are Perfect is a universal story about people who are tired of being excluded and invisible. It’s a story about a new generation of self-aware Poles who refuse to live in a simplistic scheme where there is only what is feminine and masculine.

Marek Kozakiewicz
Born in 1986, Marek Kozakiewicz is a Polish film director, cinematographer, video and multimedia artist. Graduated from the National Film School in Łódź at the Faculty of Cinematography, Marek is a member of the European and Polish Film Academy. His feature-length documentary directorial debut Silent Love (2022) was screened and awarded at the biggest documentary festivals in the world, including Visions Du Reel and Hot Docs. We Are Perfect was presented, among others, at the Thessaloniki Film Festival, Crossing Europe and BFI FLARE: London LGBTQIA+ Film Festival.
