Midpoint

One of the most important and prestigious projects of Alpe Adria Cinema and the Trieste Film Festival dedicated to training is undoubtedly Midpoint Feature Launch/Eastweek. The project is an advanced training program, dedicated to emerging professionals, for the development of writing for first and second works. The program is based at the renowned Famu Academy in Prague and is carried out together with When East Meets West.

It is one of the most well-established European programs dedicated to new talent in the field of filmmaking in Central and Eastern Europe, carried out in collaboration with the Karlovy Vary International Film Festival (Czech Republic), Cottbus (Germany), Cinemart (The Netherlands) and several other national film centers.

The project takes place annually and starts in Trieste: it includes two workshops focused on developing a feature-length fiction film script, finding funding, co-production opportunities, and also a follow-up session back in Trieste, where the one-year cycle ends.

The program is aimed at creative groups composed of screenwriters, directors and producers in the development stage of their first or second feature film.

The Feature Launch Workshop/Eastweek project is also made possible thanks to the support of the CEI – Central European Initiative, which also gives an award each year, during our festival, to the film or figure who best interprets the contemporary reality and the dialogue between cultures.
