On Sunday, July 5 , at the Giardino del Cinema in Trieste, Trieste-based director Laura Samani—winner of the David di Donatello Award for *Piccolo Corpo*—will present her latest film to the public: *Un anno di scuola*, preceded by a masterclass organized by the Casa del Cinema in Trieste, during which the director will speak with Nicoletta Romeo, the artistic director of the Trieste Film Festival.
Loosely based on the short story of the same name by Giani Stuparich, set in 1929, the film shifts the action to the present day. Fred’s arrival in a traditionally and culturally male-dominated school environment throws the dynamics and feelings of three longtime friends into turmoil. The girl, exuberant and courageous, finds herself navigating the attention, jealousy, and emotional immaturity of her classmates.
