The Casa del Cinema Association of Trieste presents the exhibition “Trieste Laughs with Laurel and Hardy” curated by the Project “S.O.S. Laurel and Hardy: Let’s Save the Italian Versions of Laurel & Hardy’s Films,” produced in collaboration with the L’Aquila Film Institute “La Lanterna Magica” and with the co-organization of the City of Trieste.
The exhibition will feature iconographic materials related to the region, such as advertisement published in the pages of “Il Piccolo” between 1930 and 1970, along with graphic works created by local authors from Trieste, including Marcello Claris and Omero Valenti.
A highlight of the exhibition are the celebrated humorous comics with rhyming captions from ‘Mastro Remo,’ a beloved Triestine children’s newspaper. Especially popular in the 1930s, the publication featured the amusing adventures of Stan and Oliver, created by Olindo Missigoi and inspired by the comedic acts of Laurel and Hardy—authentic idols of film matinees.
The exhibition is open to the public daily from 10 am to 6 pm, and can be visited in the Casa del Cinema building at Piazza Duca degli Abruzzi 3.
