Elsa Mencagli’s exhibition (T)HERE is meant to be an invitation to pause at the margins of verbal language, in the spaces between sound, gesture and meaning. Situations in which people find themselves constantly living, but without the awareness of the strong communicative connection that these actions have in our daily lives.
(T)HERE is expressed through a mixed exhibition format that includes sculptural installations, video, audio, and especially participatory actions. An ensemble that aims to concretize and convey those dimensions of language that are manifested through rhythm, form, vibration and gesture. An interweaving of art with neurology, speech therapy, voice studies and lived experience. (T)HERE opens to modes of listening and expression that slip between various forms of languages-verbal and nonverbal.
