Featured in the exhibition are original drawings and illustrated stories; characters, both real and imagined, that meander through time and space, but always with particular care to spotlight the city of Trieste and its symbols. In centre stage, Nikola Tesla, the protagonist of the graphic novel Tesla: The Lord of Lightning – Origins, which recounts his early life up to his journey to America. His presence is not only narrative, but conceptual: a guiding thread that connects the various artistic and cultural ‘currents’ explored by Mišić
The exhibition is rounded out by the Superhero Science Week, an educational program that explores the relationship between science, art, and cultural identity. For one week, schools, families, and the general public can take part in workshops and talks which transform science into storytelling. Comics and superheroes become a language capable of making complex concepts accessible, and capturing the curiosity and imagination of the audience. The experience intertwines art and science, creating bridges between past and future, reality and imagination.
Živorad Mišić (Zatonje, Jugoslavia, 1961) is a poet, writer, painter, and comic artist who has lived in Trieste, the city in which he began his artistic career, since 1989. In 1997, he published his first comic in Italian Sonja a Triestemarking the start of a prolific career, rich with achievement. He has been featured in several solo exhibitions and has authored around forty works, among which titles such as Detective Eusebio and Nico: memorie di Trieste.
In collaboration with Twilight Comics, he has produced Fratelli in armi, Ultimi fuochi, L’errante, Pin Up, and E Zico creò la donna.. He created Trieste rosso sangue, Mio nipote Vasa, and curated Dieci matite per Trieste and Ministorie for Hammerle Editori. , and created the series Gradištanske priče in collaboration with the National Museum of Veliko Gradište.
In 2022 he published Tesla: The Lord of Lightning – Origins, translated into Serbian in 2025, which received great acclaim. He is currently working on the second volume. Among his more recent work is Puma, published in five episodes in Lanciostory.. He is one of the founders and former Vice President of the Trieste Comics Academy and he has been teaching comic techniques for over eighteen years. His style blends irony, historical memory, and exploration of the human condition.
