This \u201cBorn in Trieste\u201d production is an Italy &#8211; Slovakia &#8211; Czech Republic &#8211; Austria &#8211; Croatia co-production, 2024, col., 99\u2019, Italian &#8211; Friulian o.v.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Kerekes has been a frequent guest of the Festival, which has always shown great interest in his work. The director and producer, born in 1973 in Ko\u0161ice, now Slovakia, has had nearly all his films presented by the Trieste Film Festival. In 2022, he was also invited to host a Masterclass during the 33rd edition of the Festival.  <\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The film revolves around the charismatic character of Luciana, a Neapolitan astrologist, who has a method to make her clients\u2019 wishes come true. All they need to do is take a trip on their birthday to a precise destination to be reborn under a new sky\u2026  <\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">One of the projects presented at FIRST CUT+ (WEMW 2024), the film premiered at the Venice Film Festival in 2024, in the \u201cOrizzonti\u201d section. \u201cMy father was a film director so from the age of twelve I knew that I wanted to make films. I dreamt of creating an \u2018Italian\u2019 film filled with passionate love, strong emotions, humor, and Vespa motorcycles. However, there was a catch. I am not Italian, I don\u2019t understand the language, and I have a melancholic Hungarian character combined with an ironic sense of humor. Despite these challenges, I decided to create a film with multiple layers of storytelling. The first layer revolves around Luciana, an astrologist from Naples, who listens to the wishes of her clients. The second layer delves into their everyday lives, sometimes in complete contradiction to what they revealed to Luciana. The third layer is based on the magical situations that occur during a birthday trip. And finally, the fourth layer, which holds everything together, focuses on Luciana\u2019s struggles, doubts, and desires. Even she has wishes of her own. My goal was to combine the cinematic feel of a fiction film with the ability to capture real emotions from real people. Additionally, I wanted to emphasize the importance <br\/>of coincidence, which plays a significant role in this film.\u201d (P. Gianluca Guerra will discuss films spanning about twenty years, from the end of World War II to the 1960s spy B-movies, including 007, Alfred Hitchcock, Orson Welles, and Christopher Nolan. Spy films, secret agents, and international intrigue through cinema\u2019s portrayal of the \u201cTrieste issue\u201d and the Iron Curtain: French and American films depict the Trieste situation through the lens of adventure, starting with Sleeping Car to Trieste and Diplomatic Courier, followed by the entertaining <em>eurospy<\/em> films that mimicked 007.
